Academies of Kauai

One Island One Future

Our Story

The Academies of Kauaʻi

Vision

The Academies of Kauai will be the first Hawaii DOE complex area to bring together public schools, industry, and postsecondary education partners to ensure every student has equitable access to becoming a life-long learner prepared for success in college, career, and life.

Mission

One island, one future.

How the Academies of Kaua’i came to be:

The Academies of Kauai was born out of an island wide grant with the Castle Foundation, who together with the principals at all three public high schools, saw a need for unity and equity in developing school and industry partnerships in an effort to increase work-based learning opportunities for students. The Academies of Kauai was created for public school students enrolled at Kapa’a High School, Kaua’i High School, and Waimea High School along with their elementary and middle feeder schools.

The Academies of Kaua’i will work together with their intermediary, the Kaua’i Economic Development Board to promote college and career readiness for every student on the island. This will ensure every public school student on Kaua’i has access to college and career opportunities that will allow them to live and contribute to the local economy and enhance our unique, rural community.
