Academies of Kauai

One Island One Future

Kauaʻi High School

Kauai High School is currently in Year 1 of Academy Redesign.

In the early 2000s, KHS was part of the Smaller Learning Community (SLC) grant cohort. At the conclusion of the SLC grant funding, Kauai High continued to be part of the Hawaii Academies cohort of secondary schools committed to creating structures that provide equity and access for all students. As we consider the needs of our community around us, Kauai High will be moving toward a wall-to-wall academy structure beginning with the opening of our Freshman Academy in the 2020-2021 school year.

KHS will continue work in the upcoming school year to ensure that our two upper academies will be on track to open in the 2021-2022 school year. The finalization of the career pathways offered in our two upper academies will be done through continued work with the Career and Technical Education department, Steele Dynamics consultants, and our Kauai Complex Area partners.
